We discuss a method to generate ``crashes'' in chaotic systems at prespecified time points (or to target trajectories to desirable states). The idea is first to learn typical crash sequences from available time-series and then to implement a single perturbation of the system to force it on a crash path. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V.
