Light-induced scattering is investigated in photorefractive LiNbO3:Fe and LiNbO3:Cu crystals with a photovoltaic charge transport. Differences in the energy transfer for orthogonally polarized waves are shown to be the reason for the appearance of different polarization-anisotropic scattering patterns.
