Perovskite-type ferroelectrics with 3d-impurities as possible illumination induced relaxor systems: Optical alignment of tetragonal Fe-K(3+) centres in incipient ferroelectric potassium tantalate

Ferroelectric facets of photoinduced alignment effect (PAE) for axial 3d-impurity centres in perovskite-like incipient ferroelectrics on the basis of tetragonal Fe-K(3+) impurity centres in KTaO3 (KTO) are considered. The set of new photoinduced effects of ferroelectric-type nature on the basis of PAE are predicted. Namely, it has been shown that the PAE and illumination induced reorientations of axial impurity centres can lead to (i) possibility of the set of slow relaxators and relaxer properties appearing with accompanied by local ordering in clusters of such centres; (ii) Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) signal anisotropy and magnitude increasing with illumination dose in inversion symmetric systems doped by photoreoriented dipole centres; (iii) photoinduced central peak in spectrum of polarization fluctuations. The experimental verifications of these effects as well as reviewed topical models of PAE are discussed.
