dc.description.abstractMany political decisions determine that education for sustainable development must be integrated in school education. Lots of initiatives such as Fridays For Future boost the relevance of sustainable development. In order to meet the resulting requirements, various teaching contents on the topic of sustainability are presented in the series ``Fridays For Future and School?''. This article gives an overview of the importance of sustainability in society, science, politics and schools. Furthermore, you can find specific teaching content on the nitrogen problem in the article,Fridays For Future und Schule? - Teil 2: Nachhaltige Unterrichtsvorschlage zur Stick-stoffproblematik'' in the following issue. Following articles will thematize sustainable nutrition and microplastics in an educational context.
