Zusammenfassung:
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), people continue to invest in their looks. Botulinum toxin injections increased by 2,400% from 1997 to 2003. Of all "rejuvenation procedures" surgery constitutes 25% and noninvasive techniques 75%. Nearly 7 million procedures were performed in 2002 in the US, but the underlying hopes and promises are not always based on accurate analysis. This review focuses on the scientific basis of relatively noninvasive techniques, such as botulinum toxin injections, fillers and peels. Techniques and procedures are discussed elsewhere.
