Zusammenfassung:
The following recommendation serves for assessing the impact of an occupationally acquired contact allergy to propolis on the reduction of the earning capacity in cases of occupational skin disease according to No. 5101 of the German list of occupational diseases. Propolis is a resinous mixture produced by honey bees from the sap collected from tree buds, bees wax and their own glandular secretions in order to seal their hives. For its antimicrobial, antiphlogistic and anesthetizing qualities, propolis is used in popular medicine, naturopathy, skin care and bees wax products. For a person sensitized against propolis, professions such as apiculturist and jobs in the processing of propolis may be closed. In health care (e. g. naturopathy, cosmetics, dental technicians, physiotherapy), sensitization against propolis is possible, but the substance is considered avoidable. The consequences on the job market can therefore be classified as "low-grade". © 2009 Dustri-Verlag Dr. Karl Feistle.
