The main indications are long-term reduction of unwanted hair or the removal of benign vascular and pigmented lesions, such as lentigines, tattoos, melasma, but also in PDT, acne treatment, cellulite, and rejuvenation or medical indications such as rosacea, acne, vessels, and port wine stains. Cooling s essential. IPL can be used in combination with radiofrequency or vacuum. Complications are avoided by test spots, cooling and more to prevent hypo-or hyperpigmentation ocular inflammation or burns and scarring. IPL performed correctly is a safe and effective therapy and globally is the most frequent light-based treatment. © 2013 Blackwell Publishing Ltd. |
