Zusammenfassung:
This recommendation assesses the impact of an occupational contact allergy to sulphites with regard to the reduction of the earning capacity in cases of occupational skin disease according to No. 5101 of the German list of occupational diseases. Sulphites are being used as preservatives and antioxidants in foods, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products and many other industrial branches. Allergologically relevant occupational exposure to sulphites may occur in a variety of occupational settings. However, sensitizations rarely occur, which may present as allergic contact dermatitis. Despite of its widespread usage, the impact of an occupationally acquired contact sensitization to sulphites is usually regarded "low grade", since usually appropriate protective gloves are available and can be used. Irrespective of contact allergy sulphite-associated airways symptoms occur, of which the pathogenesis has not yet been fully elucidated. © 2016.
