dc.description.abstractLaboratory scale biofilters were supplied with an artificial waste gas containing ammonia and an ammonia/dimethyldisulfide mixture. 62 bacterial strains were isolated from the filter material, differentiated and identified by chemotaxonomic and physiological methods, The taxonomic groups were compared with known bacterial strains originating from biofilters which were supplied with an ammonia containing complex industrial waste gas. The different effects of a defined artificial waste gas and a complex multicomponent waste gas on the culturable population of biofilters are discussed.
