dc.description.abstractA simple method is proposed for the precise alignment of the angular orientation of the axes of the experimental set-up and single crystals therein in rectangular laser light scattering experiments, e.g. Raman scattering or luminescence. The method is based on predictable equalities of the polarized Raman scattering intensity. The maximum sensitivity is obtained when one of the polarization vectors of the incident or scattered light is fixed and the other one rotated to the /-45-degrees positions.
