Zusammenfassung:
Erich Maria Remarque planned and wrote his novels as part of the commemorative culture of historic events. Starting with All Quiet on the Western Front, the texts intend to provide commemoration and memory by describing individual fates. This article discusses in detail Remarque's concept and strategies and combines them with recent commemoration culture of the First World War.
