A method to recognize and identify invariant equilibria is described which is useful for the calculation and graphical representation of composition temperature (X-T) phase diagrams of binary systems. The invariant equilibria are classified and a simple recognition scheme is given. The method is intended as an extension to programs which build up phase diagrams from pre-calculated isothermal sections through the (X, T) plane.
