Within the framework of the scattering kernel formalism, the temperature dependent isothermal energy accommodation coefficient (IEAC) is deduced from the truncated hard-cube model. This model, which introduces a threshold velocity v* for trapping, can be justified by hard-cube scattering within a rigid potential well together with electronic dissipation of energy. The irreversible mechanism is modelled as a relaxing image force.
