Huge amounts of organic waste are turning up at slaughterhouses, which have no access to rendering plants. The quantity and the contents of the slaughterhouse waste that turns up in the two districts of Vechta and Cloppenburg were investigated, in order to be able to include the slaughterhouse waste into communal concepts for the economically reasonable disposal of organic waste. The paper analyses the quantities and contents of the waste due to the dung in transport vehicles and waiting sties, to the contents of stomachs and intestines, to filter sludge, to fat separation residues and to sewage flotates.
