The excess enthalpies of liquid alloys in the ternary system Cu-Ge-Te were determined at 1173 K in a heatflow calorimeter. The largest values of the exothermic enthalpies are found on a line stretching from the compositions Cu2-epsilonTe to GeTe. The results were compared with values calculated from the enthalpy data of the limiting binaries. The experimental data deviate from the calculated values. The difference is explained assuming ion-ion and ion-atom interactions which are caused in melts of the binary chalcogen systems by the addition of a third component.
