The author argues that scientific results on the immigration of adolescents into the Federal Republic of Germany are incomplete. Even the theoretical grasp of the issues of adolescence and immigrations reveals gaps which reappear in practice-oriented publications for educatinal and advisory work. A theory of adolescence under the conditions of migration and immigration ought to be developed within an intercultural comparative perspective and it should include the category of `'cultural space'' as well as the interplay between the categories `'gender'' and `'ethnicity'', furthermore, it should consider the emotional dynamics of processes of acculturation during adolescence.
