dc.description.abstractA review is given on the present state of knowledge about the experimental aspects of intrinsic and extrinsic defects in LiNbO3, with emphasis on point defects. A special section is devoted to centers containing hydrogen. The role of defects in optical applications of LiNbO3 is mentioned.
