Zusammenfassung:
Some years ago we discussed some methodological problems which arise when classical methods are used in order to investigate systemic phenomena. In this contribution we are going to discuss an even more fundamental aspect of systemic methodology, which concerns the relationship between the structure of the so-called Standard Average European (SAE) languages and the structure of nonlinear systems theory. It is argued that in SAE concepts such as circularity can barely be described. For example, it is not possible to convey the cyclical relationship of victims and perpetrators in an adequate manner. By considering the notion of ``power'' in systems therapy some problems are highlighted and discussed.
