Ion scattering methods, i.e. low energy ion scattering spectroscopy (LEISS) and neutral impact collision ion scattering spectroscopy (NICISS) are used to MeaSure structural changes and thermal vibrations of the Ir(110) surface. Different surface structures have been prepared by annealing the sample, e.g. in an oxygen atmosphere and in vacuum. The experiment was simulated using the computer code MARLOWE. In the present paper we compare LEISS experiments with calculations.
