Orientation dependence of the diffraction efficiency of holograms in cubic photorefractive (111)-cut piezocrystals

The diffraction efficiency of the transmission holograms in the photorefractive (111)-cut crystals of the classes (4) over bar 3m and 23 depends on the orientation of the lattice vector. This effect is determined by combined manifestation of the piezoelectric and photoelastic properties of the crystal. The shape of this dependence is determined both theoretically and experimentally for the fixed linear polarizations of the readout light waves in a 2.1-mm-thick (111)-cut Bi12SiO20 crystal (class 23).
