For industrial production of polymeric materials it is necessary to know the specific volume v as a function of pressure p and temperature T. Therefore, a new so-called ``vibrating tube'' is developed to enable the determination of v in the pressure range from 1 to 800 bar and the temperature range from 20 to 200-degrees-C. This is proved in measurements using distilled water. Measurements with five liquid polymers and copolymers should verify the applicability of empirical and theoretical equations of state. The result is that the empirical Tait-equation with six and the semi-empirical Simha-Somcynsky-equation with five parameters of fitting describe the measured values best.
