Management and Billing of the BK 5103 - Tips and Tricks

Abstract

``Squamous cell carcinoma or multiple actinic keratoses by solar UV-radiation'' are recognized as occupational diseases in Germany since 2015 (BK 5103). Recently, the respective authority (permanent medical fees' commission/standige Gebuhrenkommission) has decided on new billing digits for the meticulous care and follow up of patients with such conditions. These new billing digits, providing an adequate honorarium for the treating dermatologists, now allow for optimal patient care in the affected individuals, which mostly suffer from highly chronic, recalcitrant actinic damage.
