This article discusses arguments which seemingly oppose teaching and using GIS at schools. Furthermore tested examples of GIS in teaching Geography are presented. The situation at school needs a stepwise introduction in GIS-functions which develop in complexity depending on the use at different school-levels. All students have to use GIS. Younger pupils may use different forms of Web-GIS, while older pupils may use desktop-CIS to analyse own data. |
