Zusammenfassung:
In German schools GIS is widely unknown at the moment, although teaching Geography offers several motivating chances to use GIS. This article discusses arguments which seemingly oppose teaching and using GIS at schools. Furthermore tested examples of GIS in teaching Geography are presented. The situation at school needs a stepwise introduction in GIS-functions which develop in complexity depending on the use at different school-levels. All students have to use GIS. Younger pupils may use different forms of Web-GIS, while older pupils may use desktop-CIS to analyse own data.
